Vastu as a planning discipline

Vastu guidance is often received as a list of rules delivered after a plan already exists, which is the hardest possible point to apply it. Introduced at the start, it behaves like any other planning constraint: it narrows the options and makes the remaining choices clearer.

The principles that most often shape a plan concern orientation, the position of the entrance, the sequence of arrival, and the placement of the kitchen, the pooja space and the principal bedroom. All of these are spatial decisions, and all of them are easier to satisfy while the plan is still loose.

Where a requirement and a practical constraint genuinely conflict, that should be discussed openly rather than resolved silently in one direction. What we do not do is make claims about outcomes — the discipline here is spatial, and we keep it there.
